Since moving to DC four years ago, I've been a frequent visitor to the museums in our nation's capital. Every time friends and family visit, I love tagging along to play tour guide, particularly at my personal favorites - the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum and the Newseum (not free, but worth the cost of admission).
To kick off my quest to visit 12 museums in 12 months, I decided to venture to a new-to-me venue - the National Building Museum. The museum is one of my dad's favorites in the city, and I'd heard the space was truly beautiful - playing host to some of the city's biggest parties, including numerous Inaugural Balls.
I was particularly interested in visiting the museum now to see the Lego Architecture: Towering Ambition display. Artist/Lego Architect Adam Reed Tucker built full-scale Lego replicas of 15 iconic pieces of architecture, including the Empire State Building, Chicago's Marina City and Fallingwater.
Between the Legos, the building's amazing architecture and great exhibits on Palladio, Washington DC and the U.S.-hosted World's Fairs, it was a lovely way to spend a holiday in the city.
