In Progress - #34: Go 30 days without dining out

Steven and I are really good about making weekly meal plans before we hit the grocery store. Every Friday or Saturday, we sit down with a notepad and write out our dinners for the week, taking into account what we have going on and what we need to use from the fridge. Mondays and Tuesdays feature favorites like meatloaf or pasta with shrimp and broccoli. Sometimes I'll even throw in a new dish we've been wanting to try. But without fail, our weekend meals always turn into "...and then we'll probably just go out to eat."

Well, not so for the next 40-ish days. (At least not for me.*)

That's right, for Lent I'm giving up dining out.

A few caveats and clarifications:
  • By "dining out," I mean purchasing and eating prepared food.
  • I can still go to restaurants for social purposes, so long as I don't eat. I will still attend happy hours and will still certainly be picking up a grande chai latte every so often.
  • Fast food and take out count. (So does pizza delivery.) Although I could bring it home and not be dining out, that loophole goes against the heart of what I'm trying to do.
Wish me luck!

*Steven has already made it crystal clear that he is still going out to eat whenever he wants, with or without me.
